Everett Reimer
Everett W. Reimer (1910–1998 ) ishte një teoricien i arsimit, i cili shkroi disa libra mbi politikën arsimore dhe ishte një ithtar i largimit nga shkolla . Ai ishte një mik i shquar i Ivan Illich, të cilin e takoi në Universitetin Katolik të Porto Rikos .
Everett Reimer kur ishte i ri ishte i angazhuar n; një sërë aktivitetesh, duke përfshirë shitjen e hartave, luajtjen e futbollit profesional, shtypjen e kartolinave përshëndetëse dhe punën në një fabrikë gomash. Gjatë Luftës së Dytë Botërore ishte nëpunës civil. Pas luftës, Reimer punoi për Komisionin e Energjisë Atomike, për Qendrën Kërkimore të Anketave në Universitetin e Miçiganit dhe për Qendrën Kërkimore të Uashingtonit të Shkollës Maxwell, Universiteti i Sirakuzës. Biografia Redakto
Pas këtyre punëve Reimer erdhi në Porto Riko si Sekretar i Komitetit të Burimeve Njerëzore dhe punoi për Aleancën për Progres. Reimer u takua me Ivan Illich në 1958 në Porto Riko, ku ata së bashku zhvilluan filozofinë e tyre të largimit nga shkolla. Reimer më pas iu bashkua Qendrës për Dokumentim Ndërkulturor (CIDOC), si Drejtor i seminarit të CIDOC mbi Alternativat në Arsim. [1]
