'''Klori''' është element kimik i cili sëbashku me Jodin (I), Bromin (Br), Astasin (At) dhe Flourin (F) bëjnë pjesë në grupin e 17-të të sistemit periodik duke u identifikuar edhe si substanca (lat.) halogjene që do të thotë (sq.) kripëformues. Klori në nivelin e jashtëm energjetik ka 7 elektrone të cilat paraqesin edhe valencën e tij. Klori formon jone negative kur bashkohet me atomet e elementeve të tjera dhe arrinë konfiguracionin stabil sikurse të gazrave fisnike me elektrone në nivelin e jashtëm energjetik.
