Gjergj Stres Balsha[A] (serbisht: Ђорђе Стрез Балшић Gjorgj Strez Balshiq) dhe vëllezërit e tij Gojko dhe Gjoni kane qene zotërit e Mizisë, zona bregdetare nga Drini i Bardhe përgjatë detit Adriatik. Vëllezërit ishin anëtarë të familjes Balsha, te cilët më parë kishin zotëruar Zetën. Ata morën pjesë në themelimin e Lidhjes e Lezhës, një aleancë e udhëhequr nga daja i tyre Skënderbeu. Gjergj Stresi me vone e tradhetoi Skënderbeu, duke u shitur një zotërim osmanëve, ndërsa dy vëllezërit e tij vazhduan të mbështesin Skenderbeun deri në vdekjen e tij dhe më pas ka vazhduar për të luftuar për forcat venedikase.

Sipas Nolit, Gjergji dhe vellai i tij Ivan dhe Gojko kane qene niperit e Skenderbeu nga motra e tij Jelena[1] qe u martua me Pal Balshen.[2] Gjenealogjia e familjes Kastrioti e shkruar nga Karl Hopf nuk e paraqet informimin per Gjergj Stres Balsha qe te kete qene djale i motres Jelena te Skenderbeut.[3]

Lidhja e Lezhës Redakto

Tre vellezerit Balshaj morren pjese ne themelimin e Besëlidhja e Lezhës, nje alenance e krijuar nga xhaxhai i linjes amesore Skenderbeu, pasi u takuan ne kishen e Shen Kollit (Xhamia Selimie) ne Lezhë ne mars 2, 1444. Si anetare ishin edhe Lekë Zaharia, Pjetër Spani, Lekë Dushmani, Andrea Topia, Gjergj Arianiti, Theodor Muzaka, Stefan Crnojeviq, dhe varësit e tyre.[B] Skendebeu u zgjodh udheheqesi i saj, dhe kryekomandant i forcave te armatosura me nje numer te pergjithshsem prej 8,000 luftetaresh.[4][5]

Ne 1451 mbasi Alfonso nenshkroi Traktati i Gaeta-s me Skenderbeun, ai nenshkroi marreveshje te ngjashme Gjergj Stres Balshen dhe nje anetar tjeter te parise se Arbërisë me: Gjergj Arianitin, Ghin Musachi, Pjetër Spani, Pal Dukagjini, Thopia Musachi, Peter nga Himara, Simon Zanebisha dhe Carlo Toco.[6]

George ishte një nga fisnikët që terhoqi mbështetjen e tij per Skenderbeun.[7][8] Sipas historianeve shqiptare Kristo Frashëri dhe Fan Noli, Strez Balšić e tradhetoi Skanderbeun duke ia shitur fortesen e Modricës Perandorisë Osmane pranverën 1457.[9][10] Hamza Kastrioti e braktisi Skënderbeun disa javë më vonë.[11]
