Hokusai

Katsushika Hokusai (Japonisht: 葛飾北斎, 31 tetor, 1760 – 10 maj, 1849) ishte një artist japonez, piktor i ukiyo-e dhe gdhendës i gravurave në periudhën Edo.^[1] Ai ishte ndikuar nga piktorë si Sesshu, dhe stilet e tjera të pikturës kineze.^[2] I lindur në Edo (tani Tokio), Hokusai është i njohur më së shumti si autor serisë së shkrimeve në blloqe druri Tridhjetë e gjashtë pamje të malit Fuxhi (富嶽三十六景, Fugaku Sanjūroku-kei^?, c. 1831) e cila përfshin veprën e që njihet në të gjithë botë, Vala e Madhe e Kanagawas, e krijuar gjatë viteve 1820-ta.
