Kozmologjia

Kozmologjia (greq. κοσμολογία = njohja e botës, botëkuptimi, botëpërshkrimi) merret me prejardhjen dhe zhvillimin e gjithësisë në tërësi dhe vendin e njeriut në të në veçanti. Ajo është degë e fizikës dhe filozofisë.

Rrënjët e kozmologjisë shtrihen në tregimet historike fetare që lidhen me zanafillën e lindjes së gjithçkasë (shikoni kozmogonia), dhe në sistemet filozofike (p.sh. sistemi ptolemeik. Në ditët e sotme kozmologjia është një shkencë që bën pjesë kryesisht në astronomi, duke përmbledhur në vetvete disiplina dhe teori edhe jashtë astronomisë, si p.sh fizikën e pjesëzave, relativitetin e përgjithshëm, e të tjera.

Megjithëse kozmologjia është fjalë e kohëve të fundit (përdorur për herë të parë në vitin 1730 në librin e Kristian Volfit Cosmologia Generalis), studimi i gjithësisë dhe prejardhjes së saj ka një histori të gjatë që përfshin shkencën, filozofinë, ezoterikën, dhe fenë.
