Mór Jókai (18 shkurt 1825 – 5 maj 1904) është shkrimtar, dramaturg dhe novelist i shquar hungarez.

U lind në Komárom asokohe pjesë e Mbretërisë Hungareze. Mësimet formale i filloi vetëm në moshën 10 vjeçare në Pozsony. Arsimimin e tij e vazhdoi në Kolegjin Kalvinist të qytetit Pápa të Hungarisë ku studioi për drejtësi dhe ku u njoh me njerëz të shquar të kohës. Ishte shkrimtar aktiv deri në fund të jetës së tij.[1]

Është autor i rreth 100 veprave letrare, kryesishtë romane dhe novela, të botuara dhe të përkthyera në 25 gjuhë të botës. Për shqiptarët shkroi dy vepra. E para është romani historik “Ditët e fundit të jeniçerëve’ - Hun: "Janicsárok végnapjai", që i kushtohet Luanit të Janinës, Ali Pashë Tepelena. Në gjuhën angleze ky roman është botuar në vitin 1897 me titull "The Lion of Janina". Vepra tjetër është romani poashtu historik me titull “Trëndafili i bardhë”, Hun: "A fehér rózsa", që i kushtohet kryengritjes së jeniçerëve shqiptarë në Stamboll në krye me Halil Patronën. Edhe kjo vepër është përkthyer në gjuhën angleze mirëpo me titullin "Halil the Pedlar". Në vitin 1917 është xhiruar një film në bazë të përmbajtjes së romanit të Mor Jokait për Halil Patronën.[2]
