The Visoko area was once the center of the medieval Bosnian state. During the Ottoman period, Visoko city was founded by Ajas-beg. After Austro-Hungary's annexation of Bosnia, Visoko was given a new but still old style, which is reflected in the oriental style of Visoko that was common throughout the Ottoman rule. In first Yugoslavia Visoko didn't develop much, and in Second World War town itself wasn't especially damaged. Real expanding town would experience in era of communist Yugoslavia. Bosnian war didn't avoid Visoko, which stays in control of Army BiH all four years of war. Today Visoko is a town of rich culture and history, but its economy has lost much of the capacity which it had before the Bosnian war.
 
Zona përreth qytetit Visoko isht dikur qendra e shtetit mesjetar të Bosnjes. Qyteti Visoko u themelua nga [[Ajas beg]] gjatë periudhës otomane. Mbas aneksimit të Bosnjes nga [[Austro-Hungaria]], edhe pjesët e reja të qytetit Visoko u ndërtuan sipas stilit të vjetër, i cili shfaqet në stilin oriental të ndërtimeve, të cilat ishin karakteristike për periudhën otomane. Gjatë periudhës së [[Jugosllavia|Jugosllavisë]] së parë (para [[Lufta e Dytë Botërore|Luftës së Dytë Botërore]]), qyteti nuk u zhvillua shumë. Qyteti nuk u dëmtua shumë gjatë Luftës së Dytë Botërore. Qyteti u zhvillua dhe u zgjerua shumë gjatë periudhës së Jugosllavisë komuniste. Visoko nuk mundi ti shpëtojë luftës ndëretnike në Bosnje. Gjatë gjithë periudhës 4-vjeçare së luftës qyteti mbeti nën kontrollin e Ushtrisë së Bosnje dhe Herzegovinës.
