Ian Hodder FBA (Anëtar i Akademisë Britanike) (i lindur më 23 nëntor 1948 në Bristol) është arkeolog Britanik dhe pioner i teorisë postprocesualistearkeologji, që nguli rrënjët e para në punën dhe mesin e studentëve të tij në mesin e viteve 1980-1990.[1] Gjatë kësaj kohe ai kishte studentët e tillë si: Henrietta Moore, Ajay Pratap, Nandini Rao, Mike Parker Pearson, Paul Lane, John Muke, Sheena Crawford, Nick Merriman, Michael Shanks dhe Christopher Tilley. Në 2002 ai ishte profesor i antropologjisë në Dunlevie Family, Stanford University në Shtetet e Bashkuara.[2]

Që nga viti 1993, Hodder dhe një ekip ndërkombëtar arkeologësh kanë kryer kërkime dhe gërmime në sitin Neolitik 9000 vjeçar të Çatalhöyük-utAnadollin qëndore (sot Turqia moderne). Ai është Drejtor i Projektit Arkeologjik të Çatalhöyük-ut që synon ruajtjen e sitit, vendosjen e tij në kontekstin që i përket dhe ekspozimin për publikun. Hodder është përpjekur të shqyrtojë efektet e metodave jo-positiviste në arkeologji, që përfshin ofrimin e mundësisë së çdo gërmuesi të shprehë dhe shkruaj interpretimet e tij/saj individuale mbi sitin.

Ian u Diplomua për Arte ku vlerësua me First-Class Honors në Arkeologjinë Prehistorike nga Universiteti i Londrës në vitin 1971, ndërsa disertacionin në  PhD e bëri mbi "Analizat hapësinore në arkeologji" në Universitetin e Kembrixhit më 1974. Ai ishte lektor në Universitetin e Leeds nga viti 1974 deri në vitin 1977, para se të rikthehej në Kembrixh, ku mbajti disa poste akademike, duke përfshirë edhe atë së Profesorit të Arkeologjisë nga viti 1996 deri në vitin 1999. Më pas u transferua në Stanford më 1999, ku u bë Profesor i Dunlevie Family në vitin 2002 dhe anëtar i Akademisë Britanike në 1996.
