Gargano

Gargano është një nënrajon historik dhe gjeografik në provincën Foggia, Pulia, Italia juglindore, i përbërë nga një masiv i gjerë malor i izoluar i përbërë nga malësi dhe disa maja dhe që formon shtyllën kurrizore të Kepit Gargano që del në detin Adriatik . “spir” në “çizmen” italiane. Pika më e lartë është Monte Calvo në 1,065 metres (3,494 ft) . Pjesa më e madhe e zonës malore, rreth 1,200 square kilometres (460 sq mi), është pjesë e Parkut Kombëtar Gargano, i themeluar në vitin 1991. Në këtë rajon që nga viti 1978 ka pasur një grindje midis klaneve të Società foggiana .

Gadishulli Gargano është pjesërisht i mbuluar nga mbetjet e një pylli të lashtë, Foresta Umbra, e vetmja pjesë e mbetur në Itali, të pyllit të lashtë të lisit të dushkut dhe ahut që dikur mbulonte pjesën më të madhe të Evropës Qendrore si dhe ekorajonin e pyjeve malore gjetherënëse Apenine.
