Robert Owen

Robert Owen (14 maj 1771 – 17 nëntor 1858), ishte një prodhues uellsian i tekstilit, filantrop dhe reformator social, një bashkëthemelues i socializmi utopik. Biografia

Në fillim të viteve 1800, ai u bë i njohur si një investitor dhe menaxher i madh i prodhimeve të tekstilit në New Lanark, Skocia. Ai fillimisht ishte trajnuar si draper në Stamford, Lincolnshire, dhe pastaj kishte punuar në Londër, para se të zhvendosej në moshën 18 vjeçare në Manchester për t'u bërë një prodhues tekstili. Në vitin 1824, Owen udhëtoi në Amerikë ku kishte investuar në një organizim eksperimental socialist në New Harmoni, Indiana, që paraqet një model paraprak të Owenit të një shoqërie utopike.
