Sipas censusit të vitit 2003, Mali i Zi kishte 620,145 banorë. Nëse do të përdorej metodologjia e përdorur deri në vitin 1991, Mali i Zi sipas censusit të vitit 2003 do të kishte 673,094 banorë. Rezultatet e censusit të vitit 2011 treguan se Mali i Zi ka 620,029 banorë.
