RedaktoDay e filloi karrierën e saj si këngëtare e njohur në vitin 1939. Popullariteti i saj filloi të rritet pas regjistrimit të parë të saj me hitin , "sentimentale Journey", në vitin 1945. Pas largimit Les Brown & Band provoi një karrierë solo, ajo filloi një partneritet të qëndrueshëm me Columbia Records, këngë të cilat do të mbeten i vetmi regjistrim i etiketuar.
