Mnemosina
Mnemosina (greqisht: [Mνημοσύνη, Mnêmosúnê; mnếmê - kujtesë] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup (help)) është perëndeshë e kujtesës në mitologjinë greke. Fjala "mnemosinë" rrjedh nga i njëjti burim si edhe fjala kujtesë, pasi që mnēmē në greqishten e vjetër do të thotë "përkujtim, kujtesë". [1] [2] Përndryshe Mnemosina është nëna e nëntë muzave.
Një titanide ose titanesh, Mnemosina ishte vajza e Titan Uranit dhe Gaias.[3] [4] [5] Sipas mitologjisë greke, nga dashuria mes Zeusit dhe Mnemosinës kishin lindur nëntë muzat:
- Kaliopa (poezi epike)
- Klia (histori)
- Euterpa (muzikë)
- Erata (poezi lirike)
- Melpomena (tragjedi)
- Polihimnia (himnet)
- Terpishora (valle)
- Thalia (komedi)
- Urania (astronomia)
Sipas mitologjisë greke, në Hades, ishte Lumi Mnemosina, si një lloj homologu i lumit të Letit. Shpirtrat e vdekur pinin ujë nga lumi Leto, në mënyrë që pas rimishërimit të mos kujtonin jetën e tyre të dikurshme. Kushdo që pinte ujë nga lumi Mnemosina do të kujtonte gjithçka dhe do të dinte gjithçka.
